Only Our Creator Can Properly Purify Our Hearts

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Those without hearts purified by God shall NOT see Him.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Early in the book of Acts it is recorded that the Apostle Peter preached and in one day 3,000 were saved, mainly Jews. A few years later he preached to some Gentiles, a man named Cornelius and some of his friends and they became saved. The Jews thought salvation was just for them. They got on Peter for preaching to those dirty Gentiles. He told them:

Acts 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, PURIFYING THEIR HEARTS BY FAITH.

When I got saved I asked the Lord to be my heart surgeon. I didn’t know what changes he would make in me, my heart and my life but I knew I needed them and I wanted them. And when He has purified our hearts it will have an impact on our lives as well. Has He done His purifying work on your heart? If not, you might trust God with the words of David:

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Philippians 2:12b work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
